Equal Education Partners is proud to announce that, in collaboration with Pembrokeshire College, we have successfully secured funding in the Taith Pathway 2 funding call.

What is Taith?

Taith, Welsh for journey, is Wales’ new international learning exchange programme enabling people in Wales to study, train, volunteer and work all over the world, while allowing organisations in Wales to invite international partners and learners to do the same here in Wales.

Collaboration with the University of Florida

This initiative will send a delegation of Further Education (FE) colleagues from Wales on a collaborative mobility visit to the University of Florida (UF) to develop a series of resources and workshops around academic writing and research to enhance learner outcomes at FE level.

Through collaboration with a leading expert at the UF’s University Writing Programme, Dr. Matthew Jones (who is an alumnus of Cardiff University and fluent Welsh speaker), the delegation will develop a suite of professional learning resources, resources for learners and workshops aimed at FE tutors. In addition to the resources, the partnership will develop workshops for delivery to a wider audience across Wales. These will be a professional learning opportunity for FE professionals and will build upon the resources developed.

The 5-day mobility visit to the University of Florida

The Welsh delegation will spend a total of 5 days on the mobility visit to the University of Florida.

On the collaborative visit, the delegation from Wales will work with Dr. Matthew Jones and his colleagues at University of Florida’s University Writing Programme to undertake activities which cover the following areas:

  • Problem-solving discussions regarding the challenges faced by Welsh learners regarding academic writing;
  • Contextual understanding of the work of the University Writing Programme;
  • Best practice techniques, approaches and structures for improving academic writing amongst learners;
  • Resource development; and
  • Workshop planning

“I am thrilled that we have secured funding from Taith to work with Pembrokeshire College and the University of Florida’s University Writing Programme. The mobility visit to the University of Florida, will be a hugely valuable opportunity for the delegation to learn from academics who are leading experts in academic writing. I am hugely passionate about international exchange, especially within education, and I look forward to leading the Welsh delegation to Florida.”
