Following further updates from the UK Government and ongoing liaison with the Welsh Government, we can confirm that supply staff who joined Equal’s PAYE scheme on or before 28th February 2020 who have lost their work as a result of COVID-19 will be eligible for payment through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

Please note that only employees who have worked with Equal since March 1st 2019 (and pay-rolled before 28th February 2020) will be eligible and that the amount payable to each employee will vary according to the criteria set out by the UK Government for calculating how much is payable to each employee during each month for the period during which the scheme will be active (currently until June 1st 2020).

Please note that staff whose pay has been secured through their existing long-term contracts will be paid in full while their existing contracts are in place. Thereafter, for the duration of the CJRS, they will be furloughed and paid through the CJRS. Staff paid through the CJRS will be paid 80% of their pay as calculated in line with the UK Government guidance linked to below.

While we are awaiting further information from the UK Government regarding when Equal will be able to reclaim payments made during this period, we are committed to supporting our team members at this difficult time. Therefore, we will be implementing this scheme effective immediately for all eligible employees.

We will be in touch with all eligible staff members individually in the coming days to inform you of your furloughed status and the amounts you will each receive during each pay period over the coming weeks (until June 1st). No team member eligible for this support will need to request that this support is provided of them; it will be automatically provided.
