We are thrilled to announce that Equal Education Partners has been selected as a finalist in the STEM Educational Programme of the Year (Private Sector) category at the prestigious Wales STEM Awards 2024.

This nomination is largely in recognition of our MISTI Global Teaching Labs in Wales programme. Delivered in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the world’s leading science and technology university, and fully funded by the Welsh Government, the programme is designed to inspire learning and enrich the school curriculum.

Through engaging workshops, interdisciplinary projects, and professional development opportunities, the MISTI GTL in Wales programme is aligned with the new Curriculum for Wales and offers schools the unique opportunity to expose their students to the world’s brightest STEM minds.

In addition to the MISTI GTL in Wales programme, Equal Education Partners has also helped deliver Innovations in Education and Teaching Today, a Welsh Government-funded professional learning opportunity exclusively for Wales’s STEM teachers.

This programme, led by MIT lecturer Greg Schwanbeck, offers a series of live and recorded workshops designed for educators passionate about innovating their teaching methods. Participants explore cutting edge tools and techniques that enhance classrooms and empower students, with topics covering AI and educational technologies, student-centred teaching methods, and alternative approaches to assessment.

Owen Evans, Managing Director of Equal Education Partners, expressed his delight at the nomination, stating:

“We are absolutely thrilled to be recognised as a finalist in such a competitive category. The Wales STEM Awards shine a spotlight on some truly outstanding initiatives across the country, and it’s an honour to be counted among them.”

“The competition is strong, and we are proud of the work we’ve done through our MISTI GTL in Wales programme, Innovations in Education and Teaching Today, and beyond in order to champion STEM education in Wales.”

As part of the selection process, our team participated in a 15-minute Zoom interview to present the case for why Equal should win this prestigious award. The winners will be revealed at the black-tie awards ceremony, taking place on Thursday, 17th October at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff – keep an eye on our social media channels to stay up to date with the award ceremony!
